Depending on availability of Maui County permits, the league usually starts in January or early February. Teeball does not begin practice until mid to late February. Players will first attend 1 full week of “conditioning” Monday thru Friday 4:30-6pm (subject to change).
Basic baseball skills will be taught and worked on throughout the week in preparation for their evaluation on the following Saturday morning (subject to change). At the evaluation, each player will go thru a brief series of fielding, catching, throwing, hitting, and running skills at the tryout. All coaches will evaluate their skill level, and then select the division and particular team your child will play for.
Usually parents can expect to hear from their coach the week following the tryout. Practices will be held each week, but the Head Coach will set the specific practice days, and the practice schedule is subject to the Head Coach’s availability as well as limitations with the sharing facilities with other teams. Practice will continue thru February and March. Players can expect 2-3 practices per week, with the major (10-12) and junior (13-14) divisions practicing 3-5 times per week.
